The Winthrop Foundation offers grant funding to local nonprofits and public-serving groups that seek to address socioeconomic and environmental impacts on the Winthrop community that arise from Massachusetts Port Authority projects, facilities and activities carried out at Logan Airport. Founded in May 2019, the Winthrop Foundation's seven-member Board of Trustees administers a generous $2.5 million appropriation from Massport as part of a Community Mitigation Agreement. The Foundation received its first $500,000 disbursement in 2019 and has since awarded over $500,000 in funding to strengthen our community.
