Working to Strengthen the Winthrop Community

The Winthrop Foundation provides grant funding to local nonprofits and public-serving groups, aiming to tackle the socioeconomic and environmental impacts on the Winthrop community resulting from projects, facilities, and activities at Logan Airport.

Established in May 2019 with support from Robert DeLeo, former Speaker of the House, and funded via an appropriation from the Massachusetts Port Authority (MassPort), the Winthrop Foundation's seven-member Board of Trustees was appointed to oversee disbursements under a Community Mitigation Agreement that provide grant funding to the Town and local nonprofits and public-serving entities that serve Winthrop residents.

Since 2019, the Foundation has allocated over $500,000 in grants to enhance our community!

Organizational documentation comprises the Declaration of Trust, the Community Mitigation Agreement, and the Foundation's Bylaws. Financial statements are posted upon availability.
